Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Winnsboro, South Carolina, Element Electronics is an American-owned producer of flat-panel televisions. Element Electronics is the only assembled in the USA TV brand sold at major retailers nationwide. Their televisions match up against the best and can go toe-to-toe with any in the world. The company currently staffs approximately 200 employees.
Element Electronics was searching for ways to improve business practices, which led them to SCMEP’s Competitiveness Review. Developed by SCMEP, the Competitiveness Review is a comprehensive, on-site evaluation of the company’s operations that both appraises capabilities and gauges the effectiveness of business systems. With its customers in mind, Element Electronics also wanted to improve performance and internal operations by earning an ISO Certification.
Element Electronics utilized SCMEP’s Competitiveness Review. This put SCMEP in the unique position to make targeted recommendations and, if needed, link the company to resources that would not only provide the service or training needed, but would be a good overall fit for the company. Up next was the ISO Certification. The program followed a proven step-by-step managed process that trained all involved personnel in the ISO 9001 standard while simultaneously creating a fully documented system in three to four months.
As a result of the ISO Certification, greater awareness to standards has been achieved. Element Electronics has also seen adherence to those standards due to management involvement and support. All employees were retained and after completion of the project, one employee was hired. Investment increased by $60K in plant equipment, $30K in information systems, and $96K in workforce practices and employee skills.
“We would like to thank the SCMEP team for partnering with us and guiding us through the ISO Certification process, while making us aware of additional offerings, such as the Competitiveness Review, to help our business continue to improve in a very competitive environment. They provided us access to grant opportunities and consulting services that would have been hard pressed to find on our own.” Daniel Lee, President & General Manager, Element Electronics
