8 Wastes of Lean Manufacturing
Waste is often hiding in plain sight and disguised as busy-work, delays, excess inventory, repeated errors, unnecessary movement, or simply “the way we’ve always done it.” In this engaging, one-day workshop, manufacturing professionals will learn to identify and eliminate the 8 Wastes of Lean Manufacturing (TIMWOODS) across production, maintenance, warehousing, quality, engineering, planning, and supporting processes.
Through a live, hands-on Lean simulation, participants will experience an inefficient process, identify the waste embedded within it, and work as a team to implement improvements. The simulation brings Lean concepts to life while demonstrating how small, focused changes can improve flow, quality, productivity, teamwork, and operational performance.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Recognize and explain the 8 Wastes
- Identify waste across manufacturing and supporting functions
- Understand how waste affects safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity
- Apply practical improvement strategies to reduce operational friction
- Build a shared language for continuous improvement
- Leave with actionable opportunities to improve their workplace
This is not a lecture-based course… it is an interactive experience designed to help participants see waste, feel its impact, and take action immediately.
