Join us for Manufacturing Day 2017

SCMEP invites you to participate in Manufacturing Day 2017! This day has been designed to expand knowledge about and improve the perception of manufacturing careers and manufacturing’s value to the North American economy. Students, parents, educators, civic leaders, manufacturers, and local communities are encouraged to attend. All are free of charge but require prior registration.

October 4th –
GE Healthcare Plant Tour – 9:30am – 11:30am

GE Healthcare’s expertise in medical imaging and information technologies, medical diagnostics, patient monitoring systems, performance improvement, drug discovery, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies is helping clinicians around the world re-imagine new ways to predict, diagnose, inform and treat disease, so their patients can live their lives to the fullest. Florence’s 500,000-square-foot facility is responsible for building components for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) devices and other medical imaging systems.

Komatsu America Corp. is a U.S. subsidiary of Komatsu Ltd., the world’s second largest manufacturer and supplier of earth-moving equipment, consisting of construction, mining and compact construction equipment. Komatsu America also serves forklift and forestry markets. Through its distributor network, Komatsu offers a state-of-the-art parts and service program to support its equipment.  It’s Newberry Manufacturing Operation (NMO) conducted the groundbreaking ceremony in March 2001. The facility has produced Backhoe Loaders, Skid Steer Loaders, Excavators and now Wheel Loaders and Forklifts. NMO has approximately 200 employees and provides a safe and environmentally friendly workplace.
