Manufacturing Day 2015 was a huge success and SCMEP would like to thank everyone for their support and participation!
On Tuesday, September 29th, over sixty clients, students, manufacturers, and civic leaders attended SCMEP’s open house at their Business Learning Center in Greenville, SC. Proforma was also in attendance as they discussed up and coming 3D and augmented reality capabilities.
Tim Sinclair, SCMEP Regional Vice President, presented to over 120 STEM students at Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, SC, on October 1st. Manufacturing in South Carolina was discussed as well as opportunities for careers in manufacturing. Students gained a new understanding of what modern day manufacturing looks like and were surprised by the variety of career opportunities available.
Friday, October 2nd, was the official Manufacturing Day throughout the United States. SCMEP partnered with Itron in West Union, SC, for plant tours and presentations by General Manager of Itron, Mike Higgins, and SCMEP’s Interim CEO, Chuck Spangler. Close to 200 were in attendance which included over 60 students, parents, educators, media, civic leaders, manufacturers, and local community members. SCMEP would like to thank Itron for their partnership and opening their doors to share the benefits of working in a manufacturing environment.
SCMEP was thrilled with the turnout all week and hopes that everyone involved learned more about the manufacturing industry.
