The SC Lean Alliance is hosting several upcoming Lean Coffees (www.LeanCoffee.org). Please note, the events are limited to 30 attendees.
What is Lean Coffee and how does it work?
This is where you get to talk about what you want to talk about. Lean Coffee is a structured, but agenda-less meeting. Participants gather, build an agenda, and begin talking. Conversations are directed and productive because the agenda for the meeting was democratically generated.
The approach is to 1) set up a Personal Kanban for each group; 2) generate possible topics from the group; 3) vote on which topic(s) to discuss; and 4) discuss.
Groups are generally no more than 8 people. Since multiple topics are generated, a process check is done every 5 minutes to determine if the current topic has been exhausted or not. If so, the group moves to the remaining topics in order.
Recent topics have included: How to get upper management support for implementation, Effective Kata implementation, Sustaining improvements, How to drive culture change, Different methods for implementing 5S, among others. Attendees have enjoyed sharing challenges and successes with these topics and all have walked away with new ideas for how to effectively tackle them. Come prepared with topics you want to discuss!
Schedule:
8:00 – 8:20 Review structure and voting on topics to be discussed
8:20 – 9:20 Group discussions
9:20 – 9:30 Wrap up
The SC Lean Alliance is a group of over 110 companies that meet monthly at member locations to share real-world lessons learned from Lean implementations. Come find out what it is all about!
