This day has been designed to expand knowledge about and improve the perception of manufacturing careers and manufacturing’s value to the North American economy. We have events scheduled for October 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th. All are free of charge but require prior registration.

SCMEP is partnering with AFR in Greenville, SC, for a presentation and plant tour. Students, parents, educators, media, civic leaders, manufacturers, and local communities are encouraged to attend.
AFR’s expertise is in sophisticated plastic injection molding. Those skills are used to provide complex molded parts, or to develop, mold, and build devices that control fluid flow in vehicles. The majority of their products are for cars for GM, Chrysler, Ford, BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai, Volkswagen, and other original equipment (OE) vehicle manufacturers. Though they qualify their products through the OE’s, they focus working and on selling to Tier 1 companies – those that sell larger systems directly to the car manufacturers. AFR’s products can be separated into three distinct categories – Fluid System Products, Seating Comfort Products, and Innovative Plastics.

ZF Transmissions Gray Court, is the production site for the 8- and 9-speed automatic transmissions for passenger cars. For those who have any interest in the automotive industry and its latest news, then it’s safe to say you’ve probably heard of ZF’s latest technology, the 9-speed automatic transmission (9HP) for passenger cars, the revolutionary transmission, which was first revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. And while most of the attention has been on the transmission, the focus has also shifted to the “home” of the 9HP: Gray Court, South Carolina.
