World-class Michelin Workforce Training Program Now Open to All S.C. Manufacturers

South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership & South Carolina Department of Commerce partnering with Michelin to provide access to ‘Talents for Manufacturing’ program

 

GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 12, 2022) — A pillar of South Carolina’s manufacturing industry is partnering with the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) to make its renowned technical maintenance training programs available to all manufacturers in the state.

For more than 40 years, Michelin’s AP TEC Training School has been committed to developing superior technical personnel through innovative and effective world-class training. Michelin is now making this training available to all South Carolina manufacturers through its “Talents for Manufacturing” program. By investing in the development of technical competencies, companies can reduce downtime and increase product quality.

Headquartered in Greenville, Michelin North America operates 13 manufacturing and research facilities that collectively employ more than 9,000 people in the state of South Carolina.

Working in partnership with the state Department of Commerce, SCMEP will provide funds to cover up to 50% of the cost of the registration fees for Talents for Manufacturing training classes for qualified* South Carolina manufacturers.

The Talents for Manufacturing program includes six classes:

  • Programmable Logics 5
  • Pneumatics Systems
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Allen Bradley Control Logix
  • Industrial Mechanical Technology
  • Electrical Control Technology

Courses range in duration from five days to 25 days. The maximum number of participants is 10 students per class. All classes are in-person, instructor-led and will be conducted at the Michelin Sales Training Center, 505 Michelin Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605.

* A qualified company is a company that is a manufacturer (approved NIST manufacturing NAICS code) and that is located in South Carolina. S.C. Department of Commerce funds are not available to train employees that do not work in the qualified company’s South Carolina location(s). Funds will cover a portion of class registration fees only. Funds cannot be used to cover registrant travel, lodging, meals, or salaries. Funds cannot be co-mingled with other grant funds such as Incumbent Worker Training, Rapid Response, etc. Funds are available for classes that start after July 1, 2022, and will be completed prior to June 30, 2023.
